Commercial demolition

Commercial interior strip-out and tenant turnover demolition.

When a tenant moves out or a space is being re-planned, the old build-out has to come out before anything new goes in. New Mecca removes commercial interiors to an agreed scope line so landlords, property managers and general contractors can prepare the space for its next design.

01

What a strip-out can include

Removal limits and items that remain are identified before work starts. Potential work includes non-structural partitions, doors and frames; ceiling grid, tile, drywall ceilings and soffits; flooring to the agreed level; millwork, casework, counters and display fixtures; restroom and break-room fixtures after licensed trades disconnect and cap utilities; and marked abandoned surface-mounted items. Debris removal and broom-clean handoff are included only as stated in the written scope.

  • Tenant-space interior strip-outs
  • Selective removal for retail, restaurant, office, medical and flex spaces
  • Clear list of what remains: storefronts, demising walls, fire-rated assemblies, sprinkler lines, mechanical units and reusable items

02

Tenant turnover and white-box resets

New Mecca handles the demolition portion of a white-box reset: removal of the prior tenant’s improvements to the agreed shell condition. Finish and buildout trades take it from there. Typical requested spaces include retail units, former restaurants, medical and office suites, industrial flex units and small warehouses.

03

Plan around the building

Before mobilizing, coordinate access and work windows, loading routes, protection of adjacent tenant spaces, dust and debris controls, utilities and regulated materials with the project lead. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical disconnects are completed by licensed trades before affected removal begins. Qualified specialists handle regulated materials before related demolition proceeds.

04

Who we work with and where

New Mecca holds Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor Business license #4913-DCFR and is general liability insured; certificates are available on request.

Common questions

Questions we hear.

What is the difference between a strip-out and full demolition?+

A strip-out removes interior build-out such as partitions, ceilings, flooring and fixtures while leaving the building structure, shell and shared systems in place. Full demolition removes the structure itself.

Can you work while neighboring tenants stay open?+

The work plan can account for neighboring operations where the building, scope and access allow. Access hours, protection, dust controls and debris routes are reviewed with the building contact before work begins.

Do you disconnect electrical and plumbing?+

No. Licensed electricians, plumbers and mechanical contractors make disconnects. New Mecca removes included items after they are confirmed safe.

What do you need for an estimate?+

The address, plans or marked-up photos showing what comes out and what stays, access details and target dates help define the scope.
